Performing Arts

What will I study?

At Key Stage 4 our students study BTEC TECH award Level 2 Performing Arts.

The course has three components; two marked internally and externally moderated and one component which is externally marked.

How will I be monitored and assessed?

Students are assessed throughout the three years, both in practical performances of Dance, Music and Acting, also on written assignments looking at practitioners and the influence on their own work.

The award gives learners the opportunity to develop sector-specific knowledge and skills in a practical learning environment. The main four areas of focus are:

  • Development of skills that prove learners aptitude in performing arts, such as repertoire or responding to a stimulus.
  • Process that underpins effective ways of working in the performing arts, such as areas to develop ideas, rehearsal and performance.
  • Attitudes that are considered most important in the performing arts, including personal management and communication.
  • Knowledge that underpins effective skills, processes and attitudes in the sector such as roles, responsibilities, performance for specific audiences.
