Wear it Red Day
Our academy is supporting the ‘Hand on Heart’ charity by taking part in their ‘Wear Red’ day on Thursday 14th February by inviting students to wear something red in addition to our normal academy uniform.
All students taking part will be expected to bring at least £1 to their form tutor with all proceeds going to the Hand on Heart charity. Hand on Heart is a fully registered charity committed to reducing the number of deaths of young people due to sudden cardiac arrest. Their three aims are:
- To raise awareness of SCA in young people
- To provide or fund defibrillators for schools
- To educate young people about SCA and train them in Basic Life Support and to use defibrillators.
With the help of the Hand on Heart charity our academy has a defibrillator on site with staff and students who are trained to use it in an emergency situation.
Without wanting to spoil the more informal nature of our charity fundraising, we will expect all students to be in full academy uniform and the red item should not replace any of the standard items of uniform but should be worn in addition.
