Teaching is my passion and I have been fortunate to have an extremely fulfilling, successful and interesting career at Co-op Academy Swinton. In 1999 I was appointed as a maternity cover in the ICT faculty and then employed as a full-time permanent member of staff in 2000.
Since then I have been promoted from Head of Faculty, Head of Year, Assistant Headteacher and finally to Deputy Headteacher in 2010. As Deputy Headteacher of Co-op Academy Swinton every day has brought something different both in terms of challenges and rewards. My role has given me the opportunity to make a difference to my students and impact positively on the community which our academy serves, thus enhancing the life chances of our students not only locally but nationally and internationally as well.
I am truly committed to innovative teaching and learning and high standards of achievement, whilst also enhancing the social, moral and personal development of students to ensure they become good citizens of the future and valued members of the local community. This is reflected in my own personal belief that education is the key to transforming students’ lives and their communities. The Co-op has a strong reputation for academic achievement and pastoral, which care gives me an excellent position to build on current practice, whilst driving improvement and further developments in the pastoral system and whole school systems which will lead to better outcomes for the students academically and socially.
