Girls Out Loud inspiring our Year 8s
On Wednesday 3rd October we hosted a visit from Girls Out Loud, an organisation on a mission to raise the aspirations of teen girls in the UK. They were here to work with female students from Year 8, kicking off their programme with us with a ‘Role Model Relay’.
We are participating in their year long ‘Big Sister Mentoring Programme’ which aims to inspire girls to be the best they possibly can be. All of the girls involved in the Relay event spoke to a number of inspirational women about their careers and the pathways they took to be successful. The girls also heard from presenters from the areas of construction, media, music and the beauty industry.
During the next phase of the programme 30 girls will be chosen, from those who have applied to have a ‘Big Sister’ mentor, who will meet with them each month to work with them to discuss their academic and social needs.
The whole day was very inspiring and has received excellent feedback from the girls and we’re really looking forward to the next stage of the programme.
