International Women’s Day 2021

International Women’s Day 2021

Today, March 8, is International Women’s Day, a chance to celebrate all women and the opportunity to challenge discrimination against women.

The International Women’s Day campaign theme for 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge.

A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.

From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.

Get involved…

All students are encouraged to write their own short poem or monologue explaining why International Women’s Day is important to them and why they #ChooseToChallenge.

Please email your work to Mrs Fagan at:

For inspiration, take a look the clip below, listen carefully to the poet Aminah Rahman who expresses very clearly why this day is so important to her.

Watch the video below which explains where the idea for International Women’s Day comes from.
