Update from Mr Harrison, 2 January 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

I am sure you will have seen the national news relating to the reopening of schools following the Christmas break. The Government has decided that there will be a phased re-opening for different groups of children, depending on their year group.

It is possible that this situation changes again depending on national decisions but currently the arrangements are:

  1. Tuesday 5th January 2021 onwards – School will only be open for the children of critical workers and children who may need additional support. Before Christmas you were sent a link to a Google Form which let you tell us if your children fall under either of these groups. If you have not let us know before Monday morning it may not be possible to accommodate your child.
  2. Monday 11th January onwards – School will be open for all Year 11 students
  3. Monday 18th January onwards – School will be open to all students, in all year groups

Home Learning

All students will have work available on Google Classroom from Tuesday 5th January. It is expected that all children complete the work set for them. Your child has been shown how to access this and already has all the passwords and instructions they need. If you are struggling to access the work, or are having issues with IT equipment, then please contact school directly.

Mass Testing

The Government have also announced that schools will be delivering mass testing of pupils and staff for Covid 19. Details on how this will work are still unclear and we will be working on having a system in place as soon as possible. No child will be tested in school until we have received written permission from parents/carers. Once we have full details of the system to be put in place, a permission letter and information will be shared with you all.

As we have throughout the last year, we will continue to focus on the safety of all involved in the school community whilst also making sure the children’s education is protected as much as possible.

Yours sincerely,
Mr. M Harrison
