Year 7 Logan qualifies for the WKC World Championships
We’re really proud of the great success all our academy sports teams enjoy but we’re even more thrilled to hear of our students who thrive in their own sporting fields outside of school. None more so than Year 7 student, Logan Harrison, who has just qualified for the WKC (World Karate & Kickboxing Council) World Championships. Here’s what Logan had to tell us about her amazing achievement…
“On the 27th January 2019 I competed in the WKC Open National Championships and qualified for the WKC World Championships, which are to be held in October, to represent ‘Team England’. Ken Shu Dojo is the club where I train and the majority of Ken Shu Dojo’s competition squad also qualified too.
To qualify for the World Championships I needed to win either a joint bronze, silver or gold medal. I competed in both the ‘Kata’ and ‘Kumite’ categories and in ‘Kata’ I achieved a joint bronze medal with a kata called Jin. In my age group there were 5 competitors who all train at the same club as me. In ‘Kumite’ I won gold after competing against one of the people from my club and she was awarded silver.”
