Peer Mentoring is a service in school that is run by our Year 10 students who have been trained to become mentors for students in Year 7.
A peer mentor is a sort of ‘friend’ who helps younger students by giving them guidance and advice, as well as being a listening ear. Students may request a Peer Mentor for a variety of reasons. They may; want help to give them encouragement, want to talk to someone older than themselves, be lacking in confidence or be worried about coming to school.
Students who are selected to be Peer Mentors receive full training around support, confidentiality and child protection and are taught how to deal with difficult situations.
