Our Christmas card delivery to Fountains Care Home
On Tuesday 20 December a group if our Year 8 students headed to Fountains Care Home in Swinton to deliver the Christmas cards that were made by the children at Clifton Primary School and some of our Year 7s here at Co-op Academy Swinton.
The girls, part of our Manchester United Foundation Social Action Group, had with them over 180 Christmas cards for the residents, along with two beautiful food hampers that they had created as a group. It was a very wholesome morning with plenty of smiles and joy from the residents as they engaged reading the cards with our girls. This was the first external group visit the residents have enjoyed since the pandemic and lockdown restrictions were in place and they were overjoyed…there was plenty of laughter and dancing with Fred the Red! We would like to wish Merry Christmas to all the residents once again, we had a wonderful morning with you.
The girls have worked so hard from the minute they started brainstorming this idea during our Social Action Lessons. To see all their planning finally come together and to be able to witness them engaging and having a laugh with the residents was very heart warming, I could not be more proud of them. It has made me very happy seeing how much this project has increased their confidence, not just as a group but as individuals also. They were a credit to Co-op Academy Swinton today!”.

I felt like I could really talk to the elderly residents today, they were lovely, my heart is so full. This project has really increased my confidence in communicating with people”.
Laila Warrington, Year 8 Social Action Student
You’re the first people brave enough to come in after Covid. They’ve really missed seeing people, especially young people, it will be a massive boost to them. Thank you.
