2023 TCS Mini London Marathon World Records Attempt

On Friday 28 April our whole academy will be taking part in this years’ TCS Mini London Marathon.

Schools across the UK will take part in this years’ event with thousands of children running, jogging, walking or wheeling in their school. But that’s not all, schools across the UK have been set a special challenge: to achieve a Guinness World RecordsTM title!

You can find out more information about the national record attempt here: https://www.tcslondonmarathon.com/the-event/tcs-mini-london-marathon-in-schools

What is the Guinness World Records title?

The world record we are joining in to help break is: ‘The most pledges received for an exercise campaign in one month’

The current record is: 241,675 people

How are we getting involved?

Throughout Friday 28 April our whole academy will get involved and spend one full period in PE. We’ll be covering 1 mile each in a loop on our school field, either running or walking…and our staff will be getting involved too!

Period 1 : Year 11
Period 2 : Year 10
Period 3 : Year 7
Period 4 : Year 8
Period 5 : Year 9

All students will need to attend wearing their full academy PE kit for the entire day (not their own sports clothes).

There are prizes too!

For everyone taking part there is the opportunity to win a prize:

The Fastest Student (male and female) with have a choice to take on another mile and race against a teacher of their choice!

The Fastest Year Group will be awarded with a non-uniform day!

The Year Group with the best effort will be awarded with an early lunch pass.

Come on Co-op Academy Swinton, we can do this!
