2023 Dragons’ Den Final
Last week we welcomed teams from our feeder primary schools, Mossfield and St Peter’s CofE, as we hosted our 2023 Dragons’ Den Final.
The teams from Mossfield and St Peter’s CofE, who had fought their way to the final during heats held at their school, joined us for the morning to pitched their final product ideas to our team of ‘Dragons’!.
The day we hosted the final also happened to be World Book Day and some of the children arrived in some fantastic costumes, along with banners and their best screaming voices to encourage their classmates on.
Adele Howarth, Manchester Foundation Hub Officer presented the event, alongside a special appearance from Fred the Red and our panel of ‘not so scary’ dragons were Mrs Ali, Mr Stanley, Miss Worth and Mr Bowcott poised to challenge the teams with questions about their products. Our panel were overjoyed with the teams’ pitches and continuously congratulated them on their knowledge, effort and organisation throughout the morning.
…and the result
After much deliberation from our panel of Dragons Team 2 ‘Kick It’ from St Peter’s were awarded the winning pitch! Their product was a ‘Football Learning App’ with lots of interesting features. The team had really done their research and wowed our panel with facts and statistics! The pupils won a Co-op Academy Swinton medal, a Manchester United Foundation water bottle, pin and the main prize of a stadium and museum tour around Old Trafford.
Staff and pupils from all schools had a fantastic morning and are very much looking forward to our next one in the new term.
The amazing experience od Dragons’ Den has helped us build our confidence to speak in front of others. We had to learn to communicate and work co-operatively and through our disagreements, therefore strengthening our teamwork skills. Whilst having fun, we learnt how to be creative to come up with interesting ideas. This opportunity has provided us with knowledge, confidence and key skills to thrive in our lives.
