Headteacher's Welcome

We strive to ensure that all students regardless of their background, achieve their potential.

We are committed to opening doors and providing opportunities for our students to secure their next step and encourage them to be ambitious.

Our students leave each year with great GCSE results due to receiving an exceptional learning experience as soon as they enter the academy. Our staff are talented masters within their areas and are dedicated to delivering high quality lessons and building strong relationships with all students.

We have a caring and experienced pastoral team who ensure students at Co-op Academy Swinton are supported and guided through every phase of life and become respectful and tolerant citizens of the community. Visitors to the academy constantly praise the positive attitudes our students have.

We are proud to be part of the Co-op Academies Trust and work closely with all academies to achieve the shared goals, values and ways of being. The ‘Ways of Being’ are embedded in all that we do within the academy and the community. We have very high expectations of our staff and students and have a culture built upon trust and respect.

As a parent myself, I understand the importance of selecting a secondary school to ensure your child thrives through this next educational phase. I can assure you that we are committed to understanding every student and personalising their learning journey. We nurture and challenge all students whilst providing them every opportunity to succeed.

As a student, I loved Science and continued my passion for learning by graduating with a BSc Hons in Biochemistry at the University of Dundee. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and inspire students as I once was, and I completed my PGCE at the University College of Worcester.

During my career I have been a Head of Year, Lead Practitioner and was Director of Science for 6 years in an inner city school in Manchester improving the Science data to be in line with National Average. I continued my career in Oldham as an Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Teaching, Learning and Curriculum and then Deputy Headteacher with responsibility for Progress, Assessment and Inclusion.

It is an honour and privilege to be the Principal at such a wonderful community based academy. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to come and visit our academy at an open evening, a community event or make an individual appointment to have a look around.
