Miss Bicknell

Assistant Principal

I am Assistant Principal at Co-op Academy Swinton with responsibility for Teaching and Learning – an area I have a real passion for!

I qualified as a teacher in 2007 after gaining a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Leeds in 2003 and having spent four years working as a pastry chef. I completed a PGCE to make the transition into teaching and have never looked back. Co-op Academy Swinton is my second school, having previously been an Assistant Headteacher in the Rochdale authority.

The role of Teaching and Learning is an exciting one, in which I am able to support teachers to improve their practice through evidence-based research. We want both our staff and students to be committed to self-improvement with the understanding that learning never stops.

My aim is that every student, regardless of background or circumstance, is provided with equity of opportunity to reach their learning potential through a curriculum that provides students with an ambitious learning experience delivered by inspirational teachers with high aspirations for all.
